Science is Cool
An IMAX theater is attached to the complex so we walked straight to the ticket counter to see what was showing and when. We were excited to find out the " Legends of Flight " would start soon. We were the first ones in the theater and found the best seat in the dome-shaped theater. Easton could barely contain his enthusiasm, but Layla was apprehensive even before the movie started. The movie was excellent. Layla asked, "are we flying in the airplane?" She thought all of us movie goers were actually flying in the cockpit of some airplane. The cinematography utilized great 3D animations of the design and inner workings of airplanes. Even down to the firing of pistons in the early model airplanes. Easton's mind really caught on to the concepts well. He continues to ask questions regularly about flight design and how the engine works. Another cool exhibit was the Apollo Command Module simulator. Layla was afraid so I crammed into the child-sized compartment with Easton because he really wanted to do it. The guy outside pretending to be mission control talked to Easton through the headphones and microphone as we did a pretend countdown, launch, flight and water landing. One of the days brought weather experiences like the twins never had before. The wind was howling through the trees, storm clouds rolled in, and produced a terrific show of nature for us. I get very few moments where the twins are both cuddled up with me, but when the lightning and thunder show cranked up they were stunned. We talked about all the weather related things going on and the twins did very well in comprehension without freaking out or being scared. I did my best to lead by example there. Sonic is the only business within several miles of Aunt Mary's house which was rebuilt after the tornado leveled the area last year. They started rebuilding it within a week of the tornado.
